Rudi Dittrich (born November 10, 1936 ) is a former German soccer player. For the SC Turbine and the FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt he played from 1955 to 1970 in the GDR Oberliga , the top soccer division in the GDR .

Athletic career

Rudi Dittrich played for SC Turbine Erfurt as a teenager. Shortly before his 19th birthday, he got the chance to prove himself in the Erfurt team. He was used on October 23, 1955 in a game of the so-called transition round, which was used to change the football season in the GDR to the calendar year rhythm. For the 1956 season Dittrich was officially included in the squad of the league team. As a striker on the right side, he played from the first day of the game and by the end of the season he made 24 appearances in the 26 games played. In his second league season in 1957, he shot his first six league goals. Until 1959 Dittrich maintained his regular place in the Erfurt Oberliga team, since 1957 he had only missed eight point games.

After the 1959 season, SC Turbine Erfurt had to relegate to the GDR league . Dittrich contributed significantly to the immediate resurgence with his 22 appearances in 26 point games and with six goals. In the following three league series, in which 1961/62 was returned to the summer-spring rhythm, he played 86 of 91 played point games. During this time he was converted from a striker to a midfielder. After 1963/64 the Erfurt family descended again. Again Dittrich was a guarantee for an immediate return to the league, he was used 29 times in 30 league games and was the team's second best shooter with eight hits. During the 1965/66 season, the football section of the sports club was spun off into the newly founded FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, and Dittrich played all 26 league games. The Erfurt, however, developed into an elevator team, because after a year in the league, they were relegated for the third time in five seasons in 1966.

In his third second division season, Dittrich was only absent from one of the 30 point games and was now used in defense as a 29-year-old. As a result, he came only to one goal. As usual, the people of Erfurt rose again immediately. Even at the age of 30, Dittrich was a constant in the defense of FC Rot-Weiß in the top division season 1967/68 with 22 appearances in 26 point games. In the 1968/69 season there was a major upheaval at FC, four players left, five new players came. Dittrich was still part of the player line-up, but was only used in seven league games. Instead he was used in the 2nd team that played in the GDR league this season. He could not prevent their descent into relegation to the district league . For the 1969/70 season he was finally deleted from the league squad and officially reported for the 2nd team in the district league. Nevertheless, he came to one last league game. In the encounter of the 21st match day Hallescher FC Chemie - Rot-Weiß Erfurt (1-0) on April 29, 1970, he was substituted for 18 minutes. It was his 239th league game in twelve seasons, he scored twelve goals.
