Rudolf Schmieder is a former ice hockey player and coach in the sport of ice hockey and speed skating . He is a member of the Hall of Fame of the German Ice Hockey Museum and an honorary member of the German Ice Sports Association .

Career

Rudolf Schmieder was active as a player from 1949 to 1953 for SG Frankenhausen , with which he was GDR champion, or the successor team BSG Wismut Erz Frankenhausen and was active in the GDR national ice hockey team in 1953 .

From 1957 he took over the coaching of the national ice hockey team and supervised them at the Olympic Winter Games in 1968 and at the Ice Hockey World Championships from 1958 to 1970 . After the decision to reduce sports funding for ice hockey in the GDR, Rudolf Schmieder changed his sport and in 1971 became the DELV's association trainer for speed skating .
