Rudolf Anton, son of the colonel in the second Bündner battalion and kuk major general, Johann Anton von Buol, Freiherr von Riet- und Strassberg, (* 1671, † 1717 Vienna, killed in a duel,) and Emilie Schauenstein Freiin von Ehrenfels (* approx 1680) Td Johann Schauenstein von Ehrenfels and Margaretha von Schauenstein.

The marriage to Josepha Freiin von Wenser produced five children.

Career

Appointed to the Upper Austrian Court Chamber Council in 1727 , he received the Landsmannschaft in Tyrol for himself and his descendants in 1731. 1735 Tyrolean government councilor, in 1738 he became director of the Bregenz estate and immediate commisarius of the Vorarlberg estate . When the French attacked in 1744 and 1745, he was given the state defense there . 1744 Senior envoy to the federal estates in Bern, Lucerne and Zurich. In 1790 he became the imperial and royal representative of the Kingdom of Bohemia , in 1750 direct representative at the court chamber of the Upper Austrian provinces, in 1751 he was commissioner at the Tyrolean provincial assembly.
