Kaiserstuhl line - from Buol-Berenberg in Mühlingen (1710)

Coat of arms of the Barons von Buol-Berenberg (1831)

Kaiserstuhl has been owned by the Prince Diocese of Constance since 1294 and then served as the center of the Constance state administration for centuries. The Obervogt residing in Kaiserstuhl exercised the rights of the prince-bishops over Hohentengen , Bergöschingen , Lienheim , Fisibach and Weiach . This gave Kaiserstuhl the status of a country town in the Holy Roman Empire . At the same time, since the conquest of Aargau by the Confederates in 1415 , Kaiserstuhl was also the center of an external office of the County of Baden , a common rule . This occasionally led to conflicts between the prince-bishop and the confederates.

Kaiserstuhl in 1548

The end of the Ancien Régime after the proclamation of the Helvetic Republic in March 1798 hit the town particularly hard. It not only lost its central function. Due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, Kaiserstuhl lost all areas on the right bank of the Rhine and thus the lion's share of its territory to the Grand Duchy of Baden, founded in 1806 . The part on the left bank of the Rhine initially belonged to the canton of Baden , from 1803 to the canton of Aargau.

Descendants of the ensign of the Davos landscape, Ulrich Boul (1460–1500) moved to Lake Constance at the time of the Reformation and lived in the city of Kaiserstuhl

Višňové ( German Wischenau ) in Morava ( German Moravia ) in Okres Znojmo ( German Znaim ), ( Czech Republic ), 75 km northwest of Vienna , not far from the border with Lower Austria.

Shield holder: two virgins as in the heart shield, but the right one in a silver-blue split robe, the left hand has pried the right and holds the three-leaved branch (the clover stem) in the left.

Another blazon of the Buol-Wischenauischen coat of arms reads: Square with a crowned blue heart shield, inside on the green ground a virgin in long green clothes, girdled with a red band, a wreath of flowers on the head, a bouquet in the right hand, the left in the side clawed (younger family coat of arms), 1 and 4 in gold a crowned black eagle (imperial sign of grace), 2 and 3 in silver a right-facing crowned red lion, holding a three-leaf green clover leaf (original shield symbol) in the right paw; three helmets: on the right with black and gold covers the crowned black eagle, on the middle with black and gold covers on the right, red and silver covers on the left, the virgin of the heart shield, on the left with red and silver covers the red lion from the second and third field.
