Joseph Ignaz von Buol-Berenberg
Joseph Ignaz von Buol-Berenberg , Knight and from Mühlingen (* 21st September 1749 in Stockach ; † 27. August 1817 in Prague ) was a high military, Lieutenant Field-Marshal , commandant of Prague and nobleman from the front Austrian branch Buol- Berenberg of the old Buol family from Graubünden .

Johann Ignaz was the eleventh child of Johann Georg Conrad von Buol-Berenberg (1699–1750) Imperial Knight and Lord of Mühlingen , Imperial Bailiff and Higher Government Councilor, Head of Office of Stockach, and the eighth child of Franziska Perpetua von Hormayr von Hortenburg († 1785).
Of his brothers three turned to the clergy. Franz Anton von Buol-Berenberg (n.1733–1801) was Canon of Brixen , Johann Nepomuk von Buol-Berenberg (1746–1813) Dr. theol., pastor of Kaltern, 1798 provost and city pastor of Bozen Franz Anton von Buol-Berenberg (n.1733–1801) was canon of Brixen . Conrad Georg von Buol-Berenberg (1751–1819) was provost of the cathedral , prince-bishop Ordinariate Chancellor of Prince-Bishop Karl Franz Graf zu Lodron and consistorial president in Brixen.
His grandfather Hans Andreas von Buol (1647–1708), princely councilor of the Fürstenbergs , was elevated to the rank of knighthood by Emperor Joseph I on October 11, 1707 , along with all his cousins with the predicate "von Berenberg".
From her marriage to Freiin Josepha Antonia Freiin von Widmann, four children were born:

Career
Johann Ignaz embarked on a military career. He was a KK chamberlain and was promoted to major general on September 1, 1807 . In 1809 in Innsbruck at the Battle of Bergisel , he commanded the Austrian armed forces together with the Tyroleans under Andreas Hofer in the fight against the Napoleonic French and Bavaria.
On January 29, 1813 he became a field marshal lieutenant. from August 1814 to January 1816 he was military commander in Linz and then from 1816 to August 2, 1817 military city commander in Prague.
On May 29, 1795, Emperor Franz II awarded him the title “von Mühlingen”, now “von Berenberg and Mühlingen”.
