The Salzau is a creek about 8.5 kilometers long in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein .

Along with the Mühlenau, it is one of the two outflows of Lake Selenter . At the outlet near Fargau in the Salzau, the height of the lake's water level can be regulated. On its way towards the Baltic Sea it flows into the Passader See . It leaves this as Hagener Au , which flows into the Baltic Sea between Laboe and Stein for the last few meters .

Namesake

The Salzau is the namesake of the district of Salzau in the municipality of Fargau-Pratjau , the manor house there, which is popularly known as Salzau Castle , and the former regional cultural center located there .
