The Hagener Au is an approx. 10 km long stream in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . It is an outflow from the Passader lake . From its southwestern branch it flows in a northerly direction through the towns of Probsteierhagen and Lutterbek and flows into the Baltic Sea between Laboe and Stein .

In some parts the Hagener Au is very close to nature and surrounded by wet meadows. In addition, the rare loach can be found in the stream. The stream has been straightened near the mouth and piped for the last 50 meters below district road 30. Together with the Passader See, the Hagener Au forms a protected fauna-flora-habitat area .

Many species of fish live in the Hagener Au. Various whitefish such as roach, rudd and bream can be found here in large numbers. Predatory fish such as the pike, perch, eels and the eel burbot are also native here. Individual trout and carp can also be found. You have probably fled from the Kasseteich fish farm, which drains over the Hagener Au.

A fish rarely found is the stickleback , which is native here. Rare bird species like the kingfisher breed on the banks of the Hagener Au.
