Rudolf Drößler
Rudolf Drößler (born May 18, 1934 in Zeitz ) is a German non-fiction author and science journalist .
Life
Rudolf Drößler spent his childhood in Zeitz, where he also graduated from high school in 1952. After studying German in Leipzig until 1956 , he was a teacher at the extended secondary school "Geschwister Scholl" (today's Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium ) in Zeitz for many years . In 1963 he passed his state examination in astronomy at the Pedagogical University in Potsdam. For many years he was a consultant for astronomy in what was then the Zeitz district.
In addition to his professional activity, he conducted archaeological and cultural-historical studies. During his voluntary work as a floor and monument conservationist , he acquired extensive knowledge in the areas that later became the subject of his works.
After his first successful books, he became known from 1975 as a freelance science journalist and non-fiction author in the fields of astronomy, archeology and cultural history . He was critical of astrology and other pseudosciences . Most of these works have also been published in other countries (and languages).
In addition, he created plays and other works of regional importance. In 1988 Rudolf Drößler published a biographical novel about Otto Hauser , a Swiss archaeologist who got caught up in the conflict between Germany and France during the First World War .
Together with Manuela Freyberg he also manages the private scientific collection 'Otto Hauser'.
From 1991 to 1997 Rudolf Drößler was town clerk and town chronicler of his hometown Zeitz . During these years and afterwards he wrote numerous extensive publications on regional history.
