Rudolf Dumont du Voitel

Rudolf Dumont du Voitel (born April 29, 1916 in Nuremberg ; † August 2, 2011 ) was a German journalist .

Career

After attending the humanistic Melanchthon grammar school in Nuremberg and studying music, Dumont du Voitel worked as a music journalist. He took part in the Second World War as an officer and worked again as a music and theater critic in Bremen after the war. In 1949 he was first director of the studio for new music at Radio Bremen , then head of the press department in 1950 and in 1956 founder and head of the station's television program. In 1960 he switched to free television as head of the Art and Knowledge department .

After the company was liquidated, he went to the European Commission in 1961 , where he was head of the radio, television and film divisions of the joint press and information service and various departments in the General Directorate for Press and Information. In 1973 he left the commission service and worked as an author, partner and director of the company Film für Information und Bildung in Munich.

He advocated the European idea within the framework of the European Union . He was state chairman in Bremen (1955–1962), head of the Brussels working group (1962–1973), district chairman of the Europa-Union Munich (1975–1989), deputy state chairman of Bavaria (1975–2000) and a member of the executive committee (1978–1989) 2000). In the first direct elections to the European Parliament in 1979 , he stood as a substitute applicant for 6th place on the FDP list.
