Rudolf E. Kaiser

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudolf Ernst Kaiser (born February 12, 1930 in Teplitz-Schönau , Czechoslovakia ; † August 6, 2021 in Bad Dürkheim ) was a German analytical chemist and founder and head of the Institute for Chromatography in Bad Dürkheim.

Life

In 1954, Kaiser completed a chemistry degree at the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Leipzig with a doctorate. rer. nat. After he had been transferred to the division of separation technologies at the German Academy of Sciences , he nevertheless preferred to leave the GDR in 1960 and start over in the FRG. He joined BASF in Ludwigshafen, where he developed gas chromatography as a separation process in analytical chemistry. During his initial work, Kaiser established capillary gas chromatography. To further research analytical separation techniques, he founded the Institute for Chromatography in Bad Dürkheim in 1972, which he also headed. Kaiser received a professorship from LAMAR University in Beaumont , Texas, USA.

Rudolf E. Kaiser was married to Olga Kaiser for the second time, with whom he jointly ran the Institute for Chromatography.

Institute for Chromatography

One focus of research and teaching at the institute is the discovery and reduction of systematic errors . Another concern is the environmental friendliness of the analytical methods used, for example by avoiding harmful solvents .
