Rudolf Englert (painter)

Rudolf Englert (born June 2, 1921 in Duisburg , † February 21, 1989 in Ostercappeln ) was a German painter and graphic artist of informal art of the 20th century.

Life

From 1941 to 1943 Rudolf Englert studied at the State University of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf. From 1944 to 1952 he was a freelance painter. From 1952 to 1956 he studied at the Folkwang School in Essen and then taught as an art teacher in Berlin from 1957 to 1961. From 1959 he created figurative material collages and serial compositions and from 1976 he developed the scriptual line as "Written Painting". From 1961 he was again a freelance painter. From 1982 onwards he artistically focused on the drawing element loop. Rudolf Englert went on study trips to Europe, Morocco and the Canary Islands. The artist left a very extensive, complex work.
