Rudolf Fabinyi

Rudolf Fabinyi (born May 30, 1849 in Jelšava , Gemer and Kleinhont county , † March 7, 1920 in Budapest ) was a chemist .

After studying in Würzburg and Munich, he was Professor of Chemistry at the University of Cluj from June 30, 1878 to 1919 . His collaborator was Josef Count Csáky. 1879–81 Fabinyi was dean. In 1882 he founded Vegytani Lapok, the first Hungarian language journal for chemistry . In 1888 he became head of the chemical institute and the state chemical research institute of the university. In 1907 he was elected the first president of the Hungarian Chemical Society. In 1915 he became a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The Rudolf Fabinyi Prize has existed since 2007 .
