Rudolf Gross (physicist)

Rudolf Gross (* 1956 ) is a German physicist specializing in low-temperature solid-state physics . After studying physics, he did his doctorate (Dr. rer. Nat.) At the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . He then conducted research in Tsukuba (Japan) and at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center . In 1993 he completed his habilitation and in 1995 took a chair at the University of Cologne . In 2000 he became director of the Walther-Meissner-Institute for Low Temperature Research of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Professor of Technical Physics at the Technical University of Munich . He is a board member of the Nanosystems Initiative Munich research cluster and a member of the board of trustees of the Physik Journal as well as a member of editorial boards ( Physica C and European Physical Journal B) and scientific advisory boards. In 2003 he became a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.
