Rudolf Hubener

Rudolf Hübener (born March 4, 1898 in Neuhaldensleben ; † January 10, 1963 in Haldensleben ) was a German artist , sailor and full-time accountant .

Life

Rudolf Hübener, son of a blacksmith in Neuhaldensleben, went to sea as a sailor for a few years after completing school and training as an accountant in the Bergschloss brewery in Haldensleben. After his return he studied painting at the Magdeburg School of Applied Arts and at the Berlin Art Academy . However, after that, Hübener did not earn his living as an artist, but as an employee of a booking office for farmers. He lived with his family on Rottmeisterstraße in Haldensleben. He was friends with local artist colleagues such as Thomas Heinrich Uffrecht and Otto Henning. The painter Heinrich Gans in Ausleben , who later moved to Starnberg , was one of his friends .

Hübener's work includes watercolors, oil paintings and graphics that have been exhibited in Magdeburg, Halle, Berlin, Dresden and Munich, among others. In November 2010, on the initiative of Hübener's niece, a special exhibition with pictures and graphics by Rudolf Hübener was opened in the Haldensleben Museum .
