Rudolf Hausmann (doctor)
Rudolf Hausmann (born August 25, 1929 in Schafisheim , Switzerland) is a German - Brazilian geneticist . He is a professor emeritus at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg .
Life
Rudolf Hausmann studied medicine in Rio de Janeiro . In 1955 he completed his studies with a medical degree from the Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro . From 1956 to 1958 he was an assistant at the Institute for Genetics at the University of Cologne . From 1959 to 1963 he worked in teaching and research at the Institute for Microbiology at the University of Rio de Janeiro and in 1964 he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine , New York. From 1965 to 1967 he worked at the Southwest Center of Advanced Studies in Dallas (SCAS). Hausmann taught and researched from 1968 to 1994 as a professor of genetics at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau.
Hausmann deals scientifically with the genetics of bacteriophages (especially bacteriophage T7 ). Rudolf Hausmann became known as the co-author of Carsten Bresch (from the 2nd edition in 1970) of the work, which for many years also became the standard textbook in genetics internationally: Classical and Molecular Genetics . Hausmann has dealt intensively with the history of genetics and molecular biology in publications.
