Rudolf Jan Slabý

Rudolf Jan Slabý (born January 25, 1885 in Černošice , † July 2, 1957 in Prague ) was a German-Czech Romance philologist , translator and lexicographer.

life and work

Slabý studied Slavic, German and Romance philology in Prague and Berlin. In 1914 he settled in Barcelona and translated a large number of Slavic authors into Catalan and Spanish, as well as texts from English, German and Scandinavian provenance, as well as Spanish and Catalan authors into Czech. Slabý is best known as the author (together with Rudolf Grossmann) of Slabý-Grossmann. Dictionary of Spanish and German, Vol. 1: Spanish-German , Leipzig 1932 (5th edition, Wiesbaden 2001)
