Rudolf Jindrák

Rudolf Jindrák (born January 25, 1964 in Prague ) is a Czech diplomat and has been the director of the foreign department of the Czech Presidential Chancellery since March 2017 .

Life

Jindrák graduated from grammar school in Říčany and then studied at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague . He completed this course in 1986, and in 1987 he received his doctorate, also at Charles University, as a Dr. jur.

In 1986 he became an employee of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czechoslovakia. In 1990 he was promoted to Head of the Sub-Division for the States in Western and Central Europe in the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1991 he became consul in the Consulate General of Czechoslovakia in Munich. From 1993 he had the rank of consul general.

In 1995 he became head of the first country division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. He was responsible for bilateral relations with Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. He became head of the Legal and Consular Affairs Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in 1907.

In 1998 he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Hungary. He was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic between October 8, 2001 and April 20, 2004. From May 19, 2004 to 2006, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Austria. On December 11, 2006, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the Federal Republic of Germany. Between August 25, 2014 and June 14, 2015 he was again Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

Afterwards he was an advisor to Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and was considered a possible ambassador for Slovakia. At the beginning of 2017 he became the director of the foreign department of the presidential chancellery ( Kancelář prezidenta republiky ).

Private

He has two daughters with his wife Lenka Jindráková.
