Rudolf Josef Mentges

Rudolf Josef Mentges (born November 16, 1912 in Pünderich , † December 19, 1964 in Trier ) was a Catholic priest and cathedral vicar in Trier.

life and career

The ordination received the from Pünderich to the Moselle originating Mentges on August 2, 1936 in Trier. His first place of work was St. Wendel in northern Saarland , where he got a job as a chaplain . Subsequently, he worked as a diaspora pastor in the diocese of Hildesheim , from there to return to Trier, where he initially worked as a chaplain again. On November 16, 1941, he was called up for military service, as a result of which he was taken prisoner by Russia . After his release he was appointed cathedral vicar in December 1949 , then in 1950 he became assessor at the Episcopal General Vicariate (BGV) in Trier, on February 17, 1950 he was appointed diocese president of the priestly worship association, and in 1951 he became sub-rain of the seminary at the Rudolfinum in Trier and on February 26, 1955, he was finally prosynodal judge at the Episcopal Office in Trier. From June 22nd, 1957 he worked again as pastor in the parish of St. Martin (Trier) and in March 1959 he was named director of the prayer apostolate of the diocese of Trier . After his death on December 23, 1964, he found his final resting place in the St. Paulin cemetery in Trier.
