Rudolf Koeppl

Rudolf Köppl (born April 2, 1913 in Sofienwald , Bohemia , † February 14, 1982 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1959 to 1977 he was district chairman of the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt .

Between 1928 and 1938 Rudolf Köppl worked partly as an office worker and as a salesman in the consumer cooperative movement and was involved as a member of the German Social Democratic Labor Party from 1930 . After the occupation of Czechoslovakia, Köppl was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1939 and fought in World War II .

After Köppl was released from captivity, he came to Vienna in December 1945 and joined the SPÖ. He initially worked as an unskilled worker at Waagner-Biro and was subsequently the District Secretary of the SPÖ-Donaustadt between 1946 and 1959. On December 15, 1959, Köppl was sworn in as district chairman, where he held the position until May 12, 1977. During his term of office there was a lot of construction activity, with numerous new residential buildings being built.

After his death, Köppl was buried on March 5, 1982 in the Aspern cemetery . As a result, the urban residential complex built in 1966/67 at Anton-Sattler-Gasse 115 in Rudolf-Köppl-Hof was named. In addition, Rudolf-Köppl-Gasse in Donaustadt has been a reminder of him since 1995.
