Rudolf Karnick

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudolf Martin Friedrich Karnick (born July 14, 1901 in Kulm , West Prussia , † January 21, 1994 in Flensburg ) was a German didactician specializing in local studies and general knowledge and can be described as a pioneer in the field of general science. He was an extremely successful author of practice-oriented books, some of which were reprinted over thirty times.

Life

Karnick worked as a teacher and headmaster for over 20 years. After the Second World War he was employed as a lecturer and professor at the University of Education in Flensburg. In retirement, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by his university on June 13, 1986.

He was the author of various handbooks on local history, which were published several times, and advocated natural history topics suitable for children. He can therefore also be described as the conqueror of the heavily geographically oriented local customer. He advocated the dignity of things and thus distinguished himself from the common practice in general teaching of seeing language teaching in the center and understanding the things only as an aid for language teaching. However, he stayed with holistic educational ideas of lessons with associative songs and painting tasks on the subject. It was only in his later writings that a more phenomenally centered science teaching was emphasized.
