Rudolf Laubenthal

Paul Rudolf Laubenthal (born March 18, 1886 in Düsseldorf , † October 2, 1971 in Pöcking ) was a German opera singer (hero tenor).

Life

Rudolf Laubenthal initially studied medicine at the universities of Munich, Strasbourg and Berlin, but at the same time also took singing lessons. He was u. a. Student of Lilli Lehmann . Laubenthal made his debut in 1912 at a Bach festival in Eisenach and was then committed to the Berlin Opera House in 1913, where he worked until 1918. From 1919 to 1923 he was engaged at the Munich State Opera. A guest performance in 1922 at the London Coventgarden Opera led to his long-term engagement at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1923 .

Laubenthal worked in Berlin, Chicago, Dresden, Eisenach, London, Munich, New York, Pöcking, San Francisco, Strasbourg, South America, Vienna.

Rudolf Laubenthal was married to the singer Lulu Kaesser.
