Rudolf Lorber

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rudolf Lorber is a German basketball coach and player.

Life

As a player, Lorber rose in 1970 with the team of 1. FC Bamberg in the basketball Bundesliga  . Then he was also part of the Bamberg squad in the top German division and played in the Bundesliga until 1973.

In the 1974/75 season he coached the Bamberg team with Fritz Hofmann in the Bundesliga and implemented the goal of leading the team to qualify for the henceforth single-track Bundesliga. It was initially a one-year term. Afterwards he was coach at TV 1860 Bamberg in the regional league. In 1978, Lorber took up the position of coach at the local rival and Bundesliga competitor Post SV Bayreuth . Under his direction, wins were achieved on the first two match days, which lifted the team to first place in the Bundesliga table for the first time ever. In the further course of the season they slipped and only secured their relegation on the last day of the match with a win over Bamberg. Lorber looked after the Bayreuth team until the end of the 1978/79 season.

In the 1981/82 season, Lorber was again the coach of the Bamberg men, who now started in the 2nd basketball league . Under Lorber's leadership, Bamberg was second in the southern season and at the end of the promotion round had the same place, but was awarded first place at the Green Table due to a rule violation by Master Aschaffenburg, so that ultimately the return to the Bundesliga was made. Lorber then gave up his coaching position to Ludovit Karpil .

He later shaped basketball events in the city of Bamberg, among other things, as chairman of Brose Baskets eV (from 2010 to 2014), as chairman of the Förderverein Basketball Bamberg e. V., as referee of the TTL uniVersa Bamberg, basketball teacher at the adult education center and as an active player - among other things, as a decade-long participant in the "Klaus Haferkorn Memorial Tournament".
