Rudolf Mack

Rudolf Mack (born July 24, 1932 in Mannheim ; † January 7, 2006 ) was a German religious educator.

Life

After studying Protestant theology at the University of Heidelberg , the vicariate in Karlsruhe and Badenweiler, Mack was pastor in Todtmoos from 1962 to 1967 . He received his doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in 1969 with a thesis on Martin Buber's translation of the Bible to become Dr. phil. He then taught from 1969 to 1975 as a lecturer in Old Testament and Hebrew at Trinity College in Legon, Ghana. In 1975 he took over a lectureship for the Old Testament and specialist didactics of religious instruction at the Evangelical Oberseminar Freiburg, an institution of the Evangelical Church in Baden . From August 1, 1978 to March 1, 1995, he was Professor of Old Testament and Religious Education at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Freiburg . He was editor of the series Oberstufe Religion in Calwer Verlag.

In 2003 Mack had the idea of founding a Bible gallery. In July 2003 this biblical experience museum was founded in the legal form of a non-profit GmbH in Meersburg . Mack supported the foundation financially and with valuable loans from biblical and archaeological finds. After his death, his wife Waltraud took over his position as a member of the board of trustees.
