Rudolph Maisel

Rudolph ("Rudi") Maisel (also: Rudolf Maisel ; born August 1, 1901 in Halle (Saale) ; † September 21, 1956 ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( KPD / SED ). From 1946 to 1950 he was state chairman of the FDGB in Saxony-Anhalt .

Life

Maisel, son of a working class family, graduated after attending the elementary school an apprenticeship as a coppersmith, attended from 1917 to 1920 on a trade training school and was then in the profession operates. In 1917 he became a member of the German Metalworkers Association (DMV). In 1928 he joined the KPD. In 1930 he was expelled from the DMV and a member of the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition .

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , Maisel took part in the resistance . From February to December 1933 he was imprisoned as a " protective prisoner " in the Sonnenburg concentration camp , and from January to May 1934 in the Halle police prison. After his release he had to make a living as a short-time worker from 1934 to 1936. He was arrested again in March 1936 and remained in the Halle Police Prison until November of that year. From 1936 to 1938 he worked as a coppersmith at the Mitteldeutsche Stahlwerke, from 1938 to 1945 as a coppersmith and fitter at the “Max Böttger” company in Halle (Saale).

In 1945 he was one of the founders of the FDGB in the province of Saxony and was chairman of the Halle local committee. From 1946 to 1950 Maisel was first chairman of the FDGB state executive committee for Saxony-Anhalt. During the same period he was a member of the FDGB federal executive committee.

From May 1945 to 1946 Maisel belonged to the KPD district leadership of the province of Saxony and was there secretary for trade union work, from April 1946 Maisel belonged to the SED provincial executive committee and the state executive committee of Saxony-Anhalt .

From 1946 to 1950 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt, from 1948 to 1950 a member of the People's Council and the People's Chamber .
