Rudolf Mond (born April 23, 1894 in Hamburg ; † November 1, 1960 ibid) was a German physiologist and university professor .

Life

Moon joined after the First World War, a volunteer corps to. After finishing his medical studies, he was in December 1921, the University of Kiel Dr. med. PhD . At the end of July 1924 he completed his habilitation in physiology in Kiel and then worked at the Physiological Institute there, initially as a private lecturer and from 1929 as an associate professor and from 1933 also as head of the institute.

Mond, a member of the SA from 1933 to 1934 , was appointed to the chair of physiology at the University of Hamburg in mid-October 1934 . He also headed the University's Physiological Institute. He was elected vice dean at the beginning of March 1945 and, after the liberation from National Socialism , in May 1945 he was elected dean of the medical faculty "as a recognized opponent of National Socialism" .

Mond did research "on the permeability of cells, in particular the transport of ions through cell membranes and on the regulation of breathing."
