Rudolf Mundlos

Rudolf Mundlos (born February 12, 1918 in Magdeburg , † August 25, 1988 in Bad Friedrichshall ) was a German journalist , marketing manager and paleontologist who collected fossils .

Life

Rudolf Mundlos was the son of a Magdeburg sewing machine manufacturer. He worked for NSU from 1939 , where he returned in 1955 after being a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union and worked in the press department, among other things.

Mundlos lived in Bad Friedrichshall since 1956 and published among others with Max Urlichs from the Natural History Museum Stuttgart on nautilids of the genus Germanonautilus (1984) and with F. Bachmayer on tertiary crabs from the Helmstedt area (1968). Most of his extensive palaeontological collection came to the Stuttgart Natural History Museum in 1977 , but some also went to the Heilbronn City Museum .

Awards

1977 awarded him the University of Tübingen , the honorary doctorate .

In 1987 he became the first hobby researcher to become an honorary member of the Paleontological Society .
