Rudolf Niederhauser

Rudolf Niederhauser (born March 15, 1881 in Cannstatt ; † August 14, 1966 Basel ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Rudolf Niederhauser, son of a master caster, completed a law degree in Basel, Vienna and Berlin , which he completed in 1903 with a doctorate as Dr. iur. completed. 1903–1906 he worked in Ernst Feigenwinter's office . 1906–1908 he was an editor at the Catholic daily newspaper “Basler Volksblatt”. 1908–1919 he worked for the General Consumverein both Basle. 1908-1919 he sat as a representative of the Catholic People's Party in the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt , 1919-1935 he was the party's first councilor. He was head of the police department until 1930, then of the finance department. 1938–1947 he was a member of the National Council.
