Rudolf Opitz (politician)

Rudolf Opitz (born September 11, 1920 in Münster ; † September 25, 1997 ibid) was a German politician ( FDP ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1969 and from 1972 to 1976 .

Life and work

After attending primary school and secondary school in Münster, Opitz completed an apprenticeship in his parents' business from 1936. He finished his training with the assistant examination and passed the master examination as a photographer in 1944. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was employed in the Air Force . After 1945 he was involved in the rebuilding of the photo shop that was destroyed by bombs in the war and which he later managed.

Political party

Opitz joined the FDP in 1950 and was a member of the state board of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia .

MP

Opitz had been a councilor of the city of Münster since 1956 and was elected chairman of the FDP parliamentary group there in 1961 after the death of his predecessor August Kreienschulte. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1969 and from May 2, 1972, when he replaced the retired MP Gerhard Kienbaum , until 1976. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the Bundestag, Opitz was a member of the Committee on SME Issues and the Committee on Economic Property of the Federation (1961 to 1965), the Committee on Economics and SME Issues (1965 to 1969), the Committee on Economics and the Committee on Economic Cooperation (1972 to September 1975), in the Finance Committee (1972) and in the Foreign Affairs Committee (autumn 1975 to 1976).
