Rudolf Rieth

Rudolf Rieth (born September 9, 1889 in Fritzlar ; † March 16, 1954 in Düsseldorf ) was a German actor and magician .

Life

Professional background

After school, Rudolf Rieth first attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy and then studied acting. In 1913 he played at the theater in Halle / Saale .

When radio became more and more popular in 1926, he went to the Cologne broadcaster and became senior director and lecturer here. Rieth played a key role in the development of the radio play form.

In 1933 he was transferred to Frankfurt on account of his political views. Here he remained active as a radio play designer and speaker until 1944.

After the war he took over the radio play department of the Hessischer Rundfunk until he retired in 1952.

The magician Rieth

Rudolf Rieth began to be interested in magic as a teenager. In 1922 he became a member of the Association of Magic Circle of Germany. He was a talented magician and a dedicated collector of magic implements. His collection was considered to be very extensive, with a special focus on magic literature. However, he lost this collection during a bombing raid in 1943 when his house went up in flames in front of his eyes and destroyed everything.

Rudolf Riehen was one of the founders of the Cologne district of the Magic Circle of Germany . In 1949 he was made an honorary member of the association.

In 1938 he was the artistic director of the 26th International Congress of the Magic Circle of Germany.
