Rudolf Schucht

Rudolf Schucht (born February 11, 1910 in Frankfurt am Main ; † May 11, 2004 in Bad Soden am Taunus ) was a German graphic artist and painter.

Life and work

In 1932 Rudolf Schucht began his studies at the city's Städelschule . Just three years later he passed his state examination in graphics. He specialized in advertising graphics and got a job as a designer in the IG Farben studio in Frankfurt am Main. In 1940 he designed a poster for the International Transport Exhibition in Cologne. After the end of the war, he opened his own studio in Frankfurt am Main in 1945. He mainly designed printed matter for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries and was a freelancer for Hoechst AG and BASF. From 1951 he was Art Director of Hoechst AG, in addition to many publications in the specialist press, responsible for the art calendar of the Hoechst paintworks and for the international in-house magazine "Hoechst Heute".

In 1957 he moved with his family to the spa town of Bad Soden am Taunus and designed his own house there. In 1973 he opened a studio for free graphics and graphic design here . In the 1970s and 1980s, he designed the city's art calendar as well as portraits of famous spa guests and city councilors. He died on May 11, 2004 in the spa town and left behind more than 2500 works.
