Rudolf Thienel

Rudolf Thienel (born August 2, 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian legal scholar and has been President of the Austrian Administrative Court since January 1, 2014 .

Life

After graduation in 1982 as a doctor of law at the University of Vienna he was an assistant at the Institute of Constitutional and Administrative Law. In 1988 he was assigned to the Federal Chancellery Constitutional Service. In 1989 he received his habilitation and was appointed assistant professor at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna.

From 1993 Rudolf Thienel was a university professor at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna. In the 1995/96 academic year he received a visiting professorship at the University of Linz . From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Senate of the University of Vienna, from 2005 to 2007 he was the board member of the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna.

On October 1, 2007, he was appointed Vice-President of the Administrative Court, with the termination of his employment with the University of Vienna. With effect from January 1, 2014, he was sworn in as President of the Administrative Court.

Other activities

Rudolf Thienel participated as a member of the Austria Convention , was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Scholarship Foundation of the Republic of Austria from 2006 to 2011 and has been a member of the State Documentation Council since 2011.
