Rudolf W. Vollmoeller (born July 15, 1874 in Stuttgart , † August 8, 1941 in Uster , Switzerland ) was a German-Swiss entrepreneur in the textile industry.

Life

Rudolf Vollmoeller came to Stuttgart in mid-July 1874 as the son of Robert Vollmöller and Emilie Vollmöller, nee. Behr to the world. One of his godparents was Robert Bosch . On his mother's side, he came from the Swabian textile dynasty Behr from Balingen. His father built Vollmoeller AG into the world's largest company in its branch.

Rudolf Vollmoeller learned in his parents 'and grandparents' operation (Friedrich Behr) hosiery manufacturing . He also received training as a banker at Württembergische Vereins-Bank, which was a shareholder in Vollmoeller AG at the time.

Before the turn of the century, in 1898, Rudolf Vollmoeller left the company in a dispute about the future business policy of Vollmoeller AG, and his father paid off his inheritance by buying one of the three production sites in Untertürkheim (today Daimler-Benz produces automobiles there) took over and ran this factory independently for ten years.

In 1908 he was reconciled with his father and rejoined Vollmoeller AG. Rudolf Vollmoeller took over the chairmanship of the board from his father. His father gave him his younger brother Karl Gustav Vollmoeller together with Walter Knoll as a guardian and member of the supervisory board. Rudolf Vollmoeller took care of the repurchase of the shares in bank and private ownership, so that Vollmoeller AG could be run again as a pure family company, which increased entrepreneurial freedom. He also succeeded in increasing the average return generated to 20% annually for ten years. Only the politically difficult and turbulent times of the young Weimar Republic caused the yield to collapse to 0 to 4%.

In 1924, Rudolf Vollmoeller sold his shares in Vollmoeller AG to his brother Karl Gustav Vollmoeller and moved to Switzerland, where he founded Vollmoeller Textil-AG near the station in the municipality of Uster. From 1935 he ran this together with his son Hans R. Vollmoeller. Rudolf Vollmoeller died in 1941 and was buried in Uster.

children

His son Hans R. Vollmoeller managed the company until the late 1950s. The daughter Heidi Vollmoeller (1916–2004) was a well-known art dealer and auctioneer based in Zurich.
