Rudolf Zabel
Carl Hugo Rudolf Zabel (born September 1, 1876 in Wollin (Province of Saxony) , † July 3, 1939 in Berlin ) was a German journalist , writer and explorer .
Life
Rudolf was the son of Pastor Hermann Zabel and his wife Luise Meinecke. He attended high school in Eisenach, and then studied at the universities of Marburg and Leipzig (law, economics, ethnography). During his studies in Leipzig in 1896 he was editor of the Academic Rundschau. After graduating, he worked in the editorial department of East Asian Lloyd in Shanghai. He then traveled as a journalist and travel writer to China, Manchuria, Siberia, Japan, Korea, Morocco, Turkestans, Turkey and Mexico. Among other things, he wrote for the Vossische Zeitung .
Rudolf Zabel became known through his books and his lectures with photographs about these countries for the purpose of educating the people.

Zabel was married to Bertha Magdalena Faerber for the first time. The children came from this marriage
- Wolf Armin Zabel (born November 11, 1904, † July 31, 1944 in Vitebsk , Belarus ). He was a lieutenant colonel in the 6th Air Force Field Division when he died.

In 1925 Rudolf Zabel went on a research trip to Mexico with his second wife, Gertrud Zabel.
