Rudolf von Kalben

Rudolf von Kalben (born April 29, 1869 in Vienau , † March 22, 1951 in Hanerau ) was a German officer , farmer and regional historian .

Life

Rudolf von Kalben was born as the son of the farmer Bernhard von Kalben and his wife Agnes, nee. von Rundstedt , in Vienau in the Altmark . Initially a professional officer, he took over the management of his estate in the Altmark after the death of his father in 1899.

He now particularly excelled in seed breeding . The Vienau oats he bred became well known in agriculture. In addition, he dealt with the history of his family and other topics of the history of the Altmark, which is proven by numerous articles.
