Ruedi Schegg

Ruedi Schegg (* 1946 in Oberriet ; † May 2009 in St. Gallen ) was a painter from eastern Switzerland .

biography

From 1961 to 1965 Schegg trained as a textile designer in St. Gallen. There he learned nature drawing as a student of Willy Koch. During a stay in London in 1968 he began to paint in watercolor , a subsequent professional stay in Málaga strongly influenced his artistic development. That is why he began studying at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in 1984 .

Longer and shorter stays in different cities and countries (Italy, France, Morocco) are reflected in his work. In the last years of his life he processed many of his spontaneous sketches . Colors and shapes came to the fore. The elements that are essential for him have been redesigned in order to achieve a reduction and to come closer to abstraction.
