Rufus Gore

Rufus Gore (* around 1925) was an American jump blues and rhythm & blues musician ( tenor saxophone , vocals ).

From 1949 Gore was a soloist in the R&B band of Tiny Bradshaw ("I'm Going to Have Myself a Ball", 1950). In 1953/54 he accompanied Esther Phillips , Wynonie Harris and Lula Reed . Under his own name he published the singles "Rib Tips", "Big Ends" and "Firewater" on King Records in 1954/55 , the latter a title by songwriter Henry Glover . He also worked with Red Prysock . He moved from Chicago to New Orleans around 1957/58, where he a. a. starred with James Booker , Allen Toussaint , Little Willie John and Moon Mullican . In the field of jazz he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 1949 and 1957.
