Albert Joseph Franke
Albert Joseph Franke (also Albert Julius, born November 27, 1860 in Buchwitz near Breslau , † May 4, 1924 in Munich ) was a German genre and oriental painter.
Franke began his painting studies at the Royal Art and Trade School in Breslau and continued his studies from October 25, 1879 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Otto Seitz , Alois Gabl and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit the Younger .
In the period from 1885 to 1887 he visited North Africa several times , where many pictures of the oriental milieu were taken. Based in Munich since the early 1890s, he devoted himself to genre painting with Rococo scenes . He became a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative . From 1900 he regularly took part in exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace as well as in Düsseldorf and Berlin .
