history
The Rugghubelhütte was built in 1883 - originally for the Swiss National Exhibition in Zurich . When this was over, the simple wooden hut was dismantled and rebuilt on the Rugghubel. Since then the building has been renewed and expanded several times; The simple hut became today's large, stone-walled house. For many years the hut had no water supply; the water had to be brought over a kilometer. In 1932 and 1947 a water pipe was therefore built: initially at a distance of 300 m from the hut, and finally right up to the hut. 1979 was followed by a fundamental renewal of sanitary infrastructure: toilets, until then a little off the beaten track on a rock pit toilets were integrated into the building, installed a shower and set up a hygiene and appropriate sanitation and sewage disposal.
Since it was founded, the hut has had more than 125,000 overnight guests.
