Location of Ruhbank in Rhineland-Palatinate

Ruhbank is a district of the independent city of Pirmasens . Unlike the districts that were later incorporated (e.g. Erlenbrunn or Winzeln ), it belongs to the core town of Pirmasens under administrative law, so it does not have its own local advisory board and does not have its own coat of arms. In common parlance, the district is called “the Ruhbank” ; So you don't live in Ruhbank , but on Ruhbank .

history

At the highest point of the connecting road from Pirmasens to Lemberg stood a stone resting bench . In 1748 Jakob Weber built a farm with stables and a sheep farm, the "Ruhbancker Hoff" , at this point . From 1755 more houses were built and in 1775 a Strauss tavern was completed exactly opposite the stone bank. The village of Ruhbank has belonged to the Lemberg district since its foundation .

In 1890 the first school lessons were given in a residential building. In 1902 the municipality of Lemberg had the first water pipeline laid; In the same year a school building was built. In 1907 the “Arbeiter Turn- und Sportverein” was founded, which is now called “SV Ruhbank” . After the club also wanted to play football, a first sports field was put into operation in 1918.

In 1922 the Ruhbank was connected to the electricity network and in 1935 its own cemetery was opened. In 1950 a new school building was built for the Ruhbank elementary school , which today, after several extensions, houses the Ruhbank-Erlenbrunn elementary school .

After the Second World War , the population had risen sharply. Since a trip to Lemberg was necessary for every administrative process, a "Committee for Independence" was set up in 1955 with the aim of making Ruhbank an independent municipality. After lengthy negotiations, it was proposed to join the municipality of Pirmasens. A citizens' vote took place on this in the same year, in which a large majority voted in favor of this step. On October 20, 1956, the Ruhbank officially became part of the town of Pirmasens.

In 1957 the Protestant Church of Peace was inaugurated, and in 1961 the city of Pirmasens issued the “Steinig Bühl” development plan . As a result of its implementation, the built-up area and population of the Ruhbank have more than doubled. In 1963, the construction of a sewerage system began, which, due to the difficult geological and geographical conditions, could not be finally completed until 1994. The Ruhbank has also been connected to the city's natural gas network since 1971. In 1975 the later elementary school in Ruhbank-Erlenbrunn became the first all-day school in Rhineland-Palatinate in a pilot project .
