Antonio Fargas (born August 14, 1946 in New York City ) is an American actor .

Life

Fargas grew up as one of eleven children, his mother was from Trinidad and his father from Puerto Rico . His first acting role was in The Cool World , a drama about the hard life in Harlem . Fargas became known for his numerous supporting roles in the most important blaxploitation films of the 1970s, including Shaft , A Fall for Cleopatra Jones and Foxy Brown . In 1976, he played the lead role in Car Wash , the transvestite Lindy . He gained notoriety among television viewers through his role as Huggy Bear in the Starsky & Hutch series , which he played in 89 episodes between 1975 and 1979. From 2005 to 2009 he played the shopkeeper Doc in the series Everyone Hates Chris .

In 2004 he was one of the contestants for the fourth season of the UK version of I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here! His son Justin has played with the Oakland Raiders in the NFL since 2003 .
