The type series Ruhrthaler D 200 V / V for meter gauge are two-axle diesel locomotives with hydraulic power transmission and rod drive , which were designed for the middle shunting service in the performance class similar to the Wehrmacht locomotive WR 200 B 14 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn . After the Second World War, they were built by the Ruhrthaler Maschinenfabrik Schwarz & Dyckerhoff in Mülheim an der Ruhr .

The locomotives were offered in gauges from meter gauge to 1676 mm .

development

The Ruhrthaler Maschinenfabrik Schwarz & Dyckerhoff has built small locomotives for industrial operations since 1922. After 1945 the company resumed the production of diesel locomotives in the same form as before the Second World War. From a point in time that could not be precisely determined, locomotives were built with two front structures and a central driver's cab. A locomotive built for the Herford small railway is known .

technology

The locomotive has the same size front end for the diesel engine and the fluid transmission , the central driver's cab is between the front end.

The connection between the engine and the gearbox was made by a cardan shaft below the cab floor. The diesel engine came from MAN and had an output of 225 hp. The power transmission was realized by the fluid transmission from Voith , which is followed by a reversing gear from Deutsche Getriebe GmbH in Berlin . The gearbox output with the jackshaft is realized at the rear end of the locomotive outside the axle group. The axles are driven by means of coupling rods. This arrangement is not ideal for the running properties, but has no effect at the low speeds on narrow-gauge railways.

commitment

Herford small train V 15

In 1959, the Herford small railway procured a locomotive of this type, which they used for shunting and freight train service. The locomotive was in use there until the line was closed in 1965. After the line was closed, the locomotive was sold.

Altena Railway District

When the examination deadlines for the company's last remaining steam locomotives ran out, KAE decided to buy the V 15 from Herford's Kleinbahn. After a test drive, the locomotive was taken over with the original number in November 1965. In use, it could not meet the expectations placed on it, because although it had the same performance as the most powerful steam locomotive in the company, it did not have the necessary pulling power. Especially on the uphill stretch near Worth , the trains had to be shared with the diesel locomotive when traveling uphill. The locomotive had a combined indirect brake for the suction air brake and the air brake . Nevertheless, the trains had to be driven with brakes because the KAE freight cars were not equipped with continuous brakes. The locomotive, like the KAE VT 1 and 2 used, could no longer contribute to the rationalization of railway operations. The route was closed two years after the purchase. The locomotive was then sold in 1968 to the colliery railway of the Argenteau-Trembleur colliery in Belgium and, after the colliery was closed, it was used there on the Trimbleu – Warsage museum railway. From there it came to the French museum railway Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme in 1997 , and from there it was sold to a Spanish construction company. It is said to have been there in 2009.
