history
"Ruith" was first mentioned in 1244 in a document from Bishop Konrad von Speyer. In the following centuries Ruit was sold to the Maulbronn Monastery , before the abbot of Maulbronn was the sole landlord, bailiff and court lord of the village in 1444.
In 1504 "Ruith" fell under the sovereignty of Württemberg due to the Landshut War of Succession . Ulrich von Württemberg had conquered the Maulbronn monastery. Meanwhile, the siege of the city of Bretten remained unsuccessful, which is why the Peter and Paul Festival is still celebrated there today.
With the introduction of the Reformation, "Ruith" becomes Protestant in 1534. Due to the secularization of Maulbronn Monastery in 1810, the village passed to the Grand Duchy of Baden.
It was not until 1906 that the municipality of "Ruith" changed its name to the current spelling. In 1973 it was incorporated into the city of Bretten.
