As eructation (also Ruktation , Eflation , belching , burping refers to the delivery of) stomach air or the bark of in the rumen accumulating fermentation gases.

This reflex , which is a kind of “ burping ”, is triggered by the tenth cranial nerve , the vagus nerve . The gas (60% carbon dioxide , 40% methane ) is transported to the reflex opening of the esophagus through a contraction of the rumen sac on the back during a B cycle of the rumen motor skills . From there it reaches the throat via anti- peristalsis in the esophagus . Since the soft palate closes the way into the oral cavity during this process and the mouth is also closed, the gas first enters the lungs . Here the carbon dioxide is partially absorbed , thereby due to the increase of the CO 2 - partial pressure in the blood faster breathing movements is triggered a sequence through which the carbon dioxide is finally exhaled. A rupture occurs about twice a minute, with an adult domestic cattle releasing about 200 liters of rumen gases daily.
