The Runaway Hills (English for runaway hills ) are a group of hills in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Southern Cross Mountains they form the northwestern extension of the Arrowhead Range .
The southern group of a 1966-1967 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named them that after both of their snowmobiles got out of control while descending near the hills.
