Runestone DK Bh 49

The slightly damaged rune stone 2 by Østerlars (or DK Bh 49 also DR 398) found in the tower in 1921 comes from the transition from the Viking Age to the Early Middle Ages (1025-1075 AD). It is located in the Karnhaus of the church of Østerlars on the Danish island of Bornholm .

The rune stone is roughly cuboid; 1.63 m high, 29 to 44 cm wide, made of granite and inscribed on three adjacent surfaces with 8.5 to 11.5 cm high runes .

The inscription in the serpent band reads: Bróðir and Eimundr put this stone after Sigmund, their father. May Christ and St. Michael and St. Mary help his soul .

In front of the church is rune stone 1 from Østerlars (DK Bh 48), near rune stone 3 from Østerlars (DK Bh 50).
