At 1020 m, Mount Abbott is the highest mountain of the Northern Foothills in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises about 5 km northeast of Cape Canwe .
Participants in the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) led by British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott mapped the mountain and named it after Petty Officer George Percy Abbott (1880-1923) of the Royal Navy , a participant in the expedition.
