The Runzelsporige bladderfern ( Cystopteris dickieana R. Sim ) is a species within the family of woodsiaceae (Woodsiaceae). According to Euro + Med it is classified as a subspecies Cystopteris fragilis subsp. dickieana (R. Sim) Hyl. of the fragile bladder fern ( Cystopteris fragilis (L.) Bernh. ).

features

The wrinkled bladder fern reaches heights of growth of 10 to 45 centimeters. The feathers are overlapping to at most pinnately split. The leaflets are pointed or ovoid. The last veins run into the pinnate tips or pinnate coves. The spores are irregularly wrinkled or smooth-grained.

The chromosome numbers are 4n = 168, 6n = 252.

distribution

The wrinkled bladder fern is rare to very rare in Central Europe. There are sites in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, Salzburg (possibly extinct), Switzerland and South Tyrol. It occurs on damp limestone cliffs in societies of the Cystopteridion association. It occurs in North Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Systematics

The first publication of Cystopteris dickieana was by Robert Sim . The specific epithet dickieana honors George Dickie (1812-1882), professor of natural history in Belfast and professor of botany in Aberdeen.

The position and value of the taxon is under discussion. Cystopteris dickieana is often used as a subspecies of the fragile bladder fern , as Cystopteris fragilis subsp. dickieana led. However, this is likely to be a mutant of Cystopteris fragilis without its own area and without an independent ecology.
