Rupeni Varea

Rupeni Varea (born August 13, 1968 in Oinafa ) is a former Fijian weightlifter .

He took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and finished 17th in the class up to 83 kg. At the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 he was fifth in the class up to 85 kg. In 2000 he was fourth in the snatch at the Ocean Championships. At the South Pacific Games in 2003 in Suva, he won bronze in the duel and in the snatch and silver in the push in the class up to 105 kg. However, he was banned until 2005 for a doping violation .
