Rupert Fuchs (politician)

Rupert Fuchs (born May 14, 1964 in St. Johann im Pongau ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ) and independent energy consultant. From 2013 to 2018 he was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

education and profession

After completing compulsory school, Fuchs completed an apprenticeship as a machine fitter at the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) between 1979 and 1982 and was trained as a train driver. He then worked from 1984 to 2005 as a train driver for the ÖBB. From 1988 he attended training in the fields of solar energy, ecological footprint, storage media, wind energy, thermography, hydraulics, compressed air, ventilation, air conditioning and building biology. In addition, from 1988 onwards, Fuchs was involved in the organization and management of solar self-construction groups and was involved in the construction of over 500 solar systems. In 1992, Fuchs began to work as an independent energy consultant for trade, agriculture and private individuals and specialized in the creation of holistic energy concepts. In 2005 Fuchs gave up his learned profession as a train driver; since then he has devoted himself full-time to his work as an energy consultant. He offers energy advice and energy pass calculation for commercial, private and thermography and advises his customers in the areas of energy cost optimization and subsidies for commercial and private customers. His consulting areas also include thermal building renovation, heating and ventilation technology, solar and wood chip systems, district heating networks, hydraulic balancing of heating systems, funding information on KPC businesses / private households, settings of heating regulators, PV systems and their subsidies. Fuchs is also an agricultural energy consultant for mother-cow husbandry, dairy farming and pig farming.

Politics and functions

In 1994, Fuchs co-founded the St. Johann environmental group and was subsequently recruited by the SPÖ. He was involved as a staff representative at the ÖBB and became a city councilor and SPÖ local party chairman in St. Johann im Pongau, where he was also chairman of the environment committee and chairman of the committee for swimming pools, playgrounds and parks. After he was not considered for one of the top places in the list when the SPÖ electoral list was drawn up in 2008, he accepted the offer of the Salzburg state party leader of the Greens, Cyriak Schwaighofer , and turned to the Greens. Fuchs was one of the co-founders of the GRÜNEN St. Johann and in 2009 was elected community representative and spokesman for the GRÜNEN St. Johann. He is also an advisory member of the Agriculture, Environment, Roads, Tourism and Retirement Homes committees. With the Greens, Fuchs achieved 10.3 percent in St. Johann in 2009, and as a candidate for mayor himself, he achieved 11.7 percent. In the municipal council elections in 2014, the Greens were able to increase slightly to 11.2 percent with Fuchs as the top candidate, while he himself received only 9.9 percent as a candidate for mayor.

Fuchs was elected district spokesman for the Greens in Pongau in December 2009 and took second place in the list for the Greens in the 2013 state election . He was sworn in as a member of the state parliament on June 19, 2013 and was a member of the committees for economy, energy, livelihoods, spatial planning, environmental protection, nature conservation Europe and integration. Within the Landtag Club of the Greens, he was the area spokesman for energy, environmental and nature protection, animal welfare, agriculture and forestry, national parks, customs, fire brigade, rescue services, fishing, hunting, folk culture and the armed forces. After the state elections in Salzburg in 2018 , he left the state parliament.

Private

Fuchs was born the oldest of eight children. He is married and had a daughter and a son in 1994 and 1995 respectively.
