Rupert Zechtl
Rupert Zechtl (born March 31, 1915 in Oberlimbach ; † May 23, 2005 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and engine driver. From 1945 to 1960 he was a member of the Austrian National Council and from 1960 to 1975 a member of the Tyrolean provincial government .
Life
After primary school, Zechtl attended a community school and then the technical school for machine fitter in Innsbruck. He learned the trade of machine fitter and subsequently worked as a locomotive fitter and engine driver. Due to his political commitment, he was imprisoned several times between 1933 and 1937 and in 1937 a high treason case was initiated against him. However, this has been discontinued. Zechtl represented the SPÖ between December 19, 1945 and June 24, 1960 in the National Council and was then from June 28, 1960 to July 1, 1975 in the Tyrolean provincial government.
